The work at the shelter that had been planned before reopening has been completed. The roof has been replaced, the ceilings have been repaired, the kennels have been pressure washed, and the airducts have been cleaned and sanitized. There will be a soft opening of the shelter on Tuesday, July 7th. We plan to slowly begin the intake of animals and will re-evaluate intake again in mid-August. Shelter and animal expenses continue to be monitored very closely. Effective, Tuesday, July 7th, summer shelter business hours will be 10a – 2p, Tuesday – Saturday with additional availability by appointment only. The Food Pantry is fully stocked and will operate during our normal business hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The Cemetery Committee will be holding a service in late July to honor shelter animals lives recently lost. The cremains of the animals will be placed in the HSLC Cemetery Scatter Garden.

The Fundraising Committee is moving ahead with tentative plans to hold the Pints for Paws event at The Spirited Republic on August 20th. In addition, the Annual Breakfast/Pie Sale, cancelled in May, is now tentatively scheduled for October 11th.

As a reminder, if you haven’t already done so, please consider sending in your Christmas in July gifts.

The General Membership meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, August 12th at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be at the Knights of Columbus, 217 Limit Street, Lincoln, Illinois.

Thank you all very much for your continued support of the HSLC and our mission.
