Miss Priss, our 11 year old Bichon Frise, has found the perfect place to live out her senior years. A forever home where she will join a household filled with dogs and cats. Despite her size and age, she manages to hold her own quite well.

Buzz, our Australian shepherd puppy, was adopted by a family with another dog and a young daughter. The young daughter brought her piggy bank to an Adopt - A - Thon and donated the entire contents to HSLC. It was there that she met Buzz and her whole family fell in love. Not sure that Wags, the senior dog of the household feels the same way.

Bill and Sam, two cats who have been living in their foster home for a very long time, were adopted by their foster. Bill came in March, 2009 because he couldn't get along with the other cats in two previous foster homes. He lasted only a day in each. In early June he was joined by Sam who has chronic digestive problems. Sam had been in foster care since January. but came to live in the same foster house as Bill when he needed to be separated to be fed special food. MIRACLE!!! Sam and Bill became fast friends. Bill finally found a four footed creature he could like.

Tom displayed his playful personality at an Adopt - A - Thon and he won the heart of his forever home. He was adopted by a family with another cat, dog and two very lively and happy children.

Our very sweet boxer mix, Alli, is thriving at her forever home. She was taken to animal control because she was treated very cruelly. After healing, she was relinquished to us and taken to one of our foster homes. A deserving Alli has found a loving home and her adoptive family has found a loving and loyal companion.

Baby, our young shih-tzu, was adopted by a family in Waynesville. She joins 2 young boys, the min pin, Coconut and a cat named Tinkerbell. Baby was immediately swept up on the couch and cuddled by her adoptive father. She was loving every minute of it. Her new name is Butternut. "New life, new name", said her adoptive mother.

Chico, our very small and lively Chihuahua, has found a forever home. He joins a cat named Molly and two boys, a 9 year old and a 13 year old. The younger boy has wanted a Chihuahua for a long time and is learning as much about them as he can. Now, he gets "real life" experience as Chico's care is his new job... ..under the watchful eye of his mother.

Princess, our blue heeler/Australian shepherd mix has also found a forever home.
She joins a cat and six children. The children will change her name as soon as they can come to a consensus. Princess was barely in the front door when she was playing ball with one of the boys. She will not lack for attention and love.

Yeller, our 5 year old male long haired orange cat, has found his forever home. He went to live in a home where he will be the only cat and a companion to a lady whose children are grown. She does have an occasional grandchild visit, but Yeller's life will be relatively quiet and sedate.....just as he likes it.

Holly, our beagle/schnauzer (schneagle....honest!) has found the PERFECT forever home. She went to live with Rascal, a real schnauzer. They hit it off right away! The usual sniff test, and then run and play. Rascal had lived with an older schnauzer who died in January, so he needed a companion. And, so did the adopter. They have a very large yard with a six foot chain link fence, dog friends next door, a pond with fish, and a lady who loves dogs.

Benji, our senior citizen mixed breed dog, was officially adopted today. He touched the heart of a young man who completed an application for adoption in January. But, in addition to adopting Benji, he was closing on a house, painting, repairing, etc., so we "held" the adoption until he was ready to move into his new home. Well, almost ready....he hopes this week. Benji went to a wonderful foster home, and now is going to a wonderful forever home.

Today, Gracie, our 8 year old beagle, was adopted by a wonderful lady who has a lot of love to her. Gracie's forever home had been without a dog for a few months, and it was time to fill the home with dog love. Gracie and her new Mom will enjoy the affection each has to give. It is a good match!

Our tortoise shell cat, Pooches, had her dream come true when she was welcomed into her forever home . She is a very sweet, laid back cat, traits that will serve her well. Her new family has an 18 month old boy who learned to say Pooches after just a few tries. He will keep her very occupied!

Our miniature schnauzer, Max, was adopted by an eclectic family. He joins a mother and father, two cats, two parakeets, a backyard pond full of fish, and best of all, a six year old girl. They recently lost their beloved doberman, so little Max will do all he can to help them, because good dogs come in all sizes.When Max came to HSLC he did not know how to play. His wonderful foster family worked with him and he now knows how to play. The little girl of his forever home will finish the "how to play" job. He is a fortunate dog.

Friday Sassy, our pug, was adopted. She will share a house with a year old black lab. Before the adoption papers were completed, Sassy had explored most of the downstairs and had made a couple of trips upstairs. She and her "new mom" were immediately going shopping for toys and other necessities. And, of course, a party was planned for tonight so everyone could meet her.

Rocky, our miniature dachshund has found a forever home. He is living with another miniature dachshund, two horses, and some barn cats. Of course, he has deluxe accommodations. He, and the other dog, get to live in the house with two very fine people. His foster family introduced him to his forever family, and on the spot, they decided Rocky was just what they needed to complete their family.
