Tuesday evening Abby, the rat terrier with the twisted back leg, was adopted by a family from Chatham, IL. They saw her on Petfinder and visited her at the adopt-a-thon on Saturday. Abby liked them right away. She positioned herself so she was the dog being petted. When the family came to finalize the adoption, Abby snuggled into the arms of the mother and proceeded to lick the faces of the other two family members. She will be loved as much in her forever home as she was in her foster home.
FOREVER HOME August 16, 2010
Garfield, our orange cat, was adopted this week-end. He is the only animal in a home with a lady and her two teen-age daughters, so he will get lots of attention. One of the girls wanted a big cat who could lie in the sun like a lump. Garfield can do that nicely!
FOREVER HOME August 2, 2010
Sugar/Stalker, our grey cat who was in foster care as a kitten, adopted, returned, and put back in foster care for about 10 months was adopted today. She hates change and hates being in a carrier, so it took a very brave person to see through the hissing and fearfulness and find a good cat inside. Sugar was loved in her foster home by the humans and by the Siamese cat in the home. She found a forever home in a house with two other cats and a lady with an infinite amount of patience, and in time she will be at ease and her loving self. But she will have a new name.....Sadie.
FOREVER HOME June 21, 2010
Dax, our cattle dog was adopted on Wednesday. His foster family fell in love with him in just a couple of days. When a prospective adopter came to look at Dax, the daughter cried and convinced her dad to adopt. The father says Dax is the smartest dog he has worked with, and he has trained many dogs. So, Dax is now one dog in a two dog family. The bad news is we lost a foster, but the good news is he will be willing to be an emergency foster, and he will help with training.
FOREVER HOME May 31, 2010
Rocky, our miniature dachshund has found a forever home. He is living with another miniature dachshund, two horses, and some barn cats. Of course, he has deluxe accommodations. He, and the other dog, get to live in the house with two very fine people. His foster family introduced him to his forever family, and on the spot, they decided Rocky was just what they needed to complete their family.

Friday Sassy, our pug, was adopted. She will share a house with a year old black lab. Before the adoption papers were completed, Sassy had explored most of the downstairs and had made a couple of trips upstairs. She and her "new mom" were immediately going shopping for toys and other necessities. And, of course, a party was planned for tonight so everyone could meet her.
FOREVER HOME May 10, 2010
Our miniature schnauzer, Max, was adopted by an eclectic family. He joins a mother and father, two cats, two parakeets, a backyard pond full of fish, and best of all, a six year old girl. They recently lost their beloved doberman, so little Max will do all he can to help them, because good dogs come in all sizes. When Max came to HSLC he did not know how to play. His wonderful foster family worked with him and he now knows how to play. The little girl of his forever home will finish the "how to play" job. He is a fortunate dog.
FOSTER HOMES ARE NEEDED
The Humane Society of Logan County needs foster homes for dogs and cats. We will be breaking ground for our shelter in June, 2010, but until the building is complete, the only way HSLC has to “save” an animal is through the generosity of foster homes.
The GOOD NEWS is that with the limited number of foster homes we have, HSLC has completed 52 adoptions in 2009. We almost doubled the total number of adoptions completed in 2008. So far through May, 2010 we have found forever homes for 14 animals.HSLC takes care of food, supplies, and medical issues. Foster homes provide love and training. Foster families take an animal into their home until a forever home is found.
If you are a family who loves animals, think about becoming a foster family for HSLC. Call Wanda Stevens at 217.737.4042 for more information on fostering and on adoption.
Hi! My name is Ruby. I am a 3 year old calico cat, white with orange and black markings. I'm not bragging, but I am pretty. I did live with a family, but they had to give me up because they could no longer care for me. I was the only cat there, but I have lived with several cats in my foster home. I am rather small and a little shy, but I will give you lots of love after I get acquainted. Please think about it. Do you need me to keep you company? I am spayed, declawed, micro chipped and up-to-date with all of my shots. To meet me call 217-737-4042.
